# Parametric Box > Parametric Box is a computational design studio for architects, developers and factories: facade algorithms, complex 3D geometry, BIM models and CNC-ready production drawings. Parametric Box joins a project at any stage, from concept to production files. The studio builds the geometry, the algorithm and the documentation, and hands the model over in the formats the client's team works in. Founder and CEO: Alena Ustina. Last updated: October 2026. ## Studio Parametric Box develops architectural concepts, complex 3D geometry and algorithmic design systems. A change in the model updates the dependent geometry, drawings and specifications, so revisions are reissued from the model. The studio works with architecture practices, developers, facade contractors and fabricators. Design and technical documentation are the studio's scope. Manufacturing stays with the client's production partner. Priority markets: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. Project experience: China, Indonesia and Russia. Developers decide on early-stage concepts faster and carry the chosen option into documentation. The studio also designs flagship buildings and architectural accents that set the identity of a development. ### Architects and architecture practices The studio acts as a technology partner. The lead architect remains the author of the concept, and Parametric Box joins the most complex parts: curvilinear volumes, non-standard facades, large architectural accents. Typical entry points are geometry from a sketch, facade refinement, panelization and BIM-ready modeling. ### Contractors, facade contractors and fabricators Production drawings come straight from the model. Element identification, marking, unfolding and CNC-ready layouts are generated by algorithm, and a geometry change reissues the drawings. The scope follows the agreed material, machine and assembly constraints. ## Services ### Architectural concepts Building form, spatial organization, landscape relationships, interior and exterior design for buildings, hospitality environments, interiors and public spaces. ### Complex 3D geometry Organic, curvilinear and freeform models built from an architect's sketch, an existing model or project constraints. The REEF project is an example: a 3D model made for Niko Architect in Bali. ### Facade systems, panelization and rationalization Attractor-based panelization builds a facade from a limited set of repeating modules. Each panel carries its position in the assembly, a unique number, its orientation and its basic geometry. The Levashovo Airport facade was reduced to repeatable production types with an automated layout for CNC machines. ### BIM and model exchange Models export from Grasshopper to Revit, Archicad, Tekla, AutoCAD and 3ds Max. Panel data travels with the model into engineering programs. For the New Yandex Campus in Moscow, the studio developed the BIM model in Revit, where an algorithm assigns every element its own mark and specifications are generated from the model. ### Production documentation and optimization Drawings, unfolded elements, marking and CNC-ready layouts. Optimization covers panel types, material use and the arrangement of parts on sheets. ### Climate analysis Insolation, radiation and wind analysis in Grasshopper with Ladybug, used in early-stage design to test building shape and location and to find windows that miss insolation standards. ### Interactive objects An interactive object programmed in TouchDesigner controls the rotation of movable prisms from a distance and produces dynamic patterns. ## Tools Rhino and Grasshopper for geometry and algorithms, Ladybug for climate analysis, Revit, Archicad, Tekla, AutoCAD and 3ds Max for model exchange. ## Projects ### NEBULA, Qiandao Lake, China Unbuilt minimalist hotel concept for the competition Elevating Elegance. Parametric Box developed the plan, landscape, interior and exterior. ArchDaily featured NEBULA in an August 2026 selection of seven unbuilt hotel projects, and Archiol lists Alena Ustina and NEBULA under Honourable Mention. ### REEF, Bali A 3D model made for Niko Architect in Bali, Indonesia. ### Riviera, Sochi Digital modeling for the Riviera project in Sochi. Developer: Metropolis GC. Project author: ArchBuro 2.0. The studio modeled small architectural forms (benches, railings), fences and tile, and the faceted ceiling system as one Revit model of panels, U-profiles, niches and lamellae. ### Lakhta Center concept, Saint Petersburg A concept for Lakhta Center developed in collaboration with SK Struktura. ### Levashovo Airport, Saint Petersburg Facade modeling for the Struktura factory. The model reduced the number of unique elements to repeatable production types and produced an automated layout for transfer to CNC machines. ### Macrofabrica A facade algorithm for the factory Macrofabrica. It calculates bending radii and slat spacing, measures how spacing and profile change insolation, and adjusts the end lamella to radii the factory can roll. Parametric Box also developed panels and interior digital development for a Moscow-City tower for Macrofabrica. ### Freedome An algorithm for Freedome, a builder of dome structures. It converts a surface into a dome using the Freedome construction system and unfolds the parts for CNC cutting. ### Yandex Campus, Moscow BIM model in Revit with automatic element marking and specifications generated from the model. ### Prechistenka interior project An interior design project: an entrance hall with an installation reflected in a mirror, a bar area and a smart-home control system.
